GUEST: United Australia Party candidate and Orthodox Jew, Leon Kofmansky.
\n\nIn this episode of The Opposition Podcast Rebel News Australia's Avi Yemini and independent journalist Rukshan Fernando, talk to Leon Kofmansky an Orthodox Jew and United Australia Party candidate. The trio delved into a topic that remains shrouded in misunderstanding and misrepresentation – anti-Semitism.
\n\nThe recent protest in Melbourne by neo-Nazis and a counter protest by Antifa radicals provided a new backdrop for anti-Semitism, not merely as an isolated, historic issue but as a persisting societal problem often overlooked by those outside the Jewish community. Avi highlighted the tendency for some groups within the Jewish community to overstate instances of anti-Semitism, detracting from actual serious instances of prejudice.
\n\nLeon added that those who are quick to "cry wolf" do not represent the majority of Jews, stating that they are typically self-serving individuals with specific political interests. He highlighted the notable anti-Semitism prevalent within the left-wing faction, often overlooked by the establishment while focusing exclusively on right-wing biases.
\n\nThe discussion turned to the escalating incidents of individuals being labelled as Nazis. Rukshan, found it perplexing and concerning that even he had been subject to such name-calling despite his own background. Leon termed it "mind-boggling," reflecting the general sentiment of the conversation – that there's a gross simplification and misapplication of labels in society, especially from those claiming to be 'anti-fascist'.
\n\nAvi pointed out the irony of certain organisations and individuals appearing overly zealous in identifying and highlighting anti-Semitic acts, sometimes even seeming to fabricate incidents to validate their cause. While the swastika remains a universally recognised symbol of hatred, there's a pressing need to recognise and confront more nuanced and disguised forms of anti-Semitism.
\n\nIn this episode, the panel reviewed a recent Rebel News video depicting both Antifa and Nazi supporters on the streets. The neo-Nazi group, under heavy scrutiny, were comparatively well-behaved, as compared to the seemingly unchecked violence from the so-called 'anti-fascist' group. This disturbing revelation underpinned the central tenet of the discussion – that hate and prejudice are not exclusive to any one side of the political or ideological spectrum, and that their most insidious forms often escape societal condemnation.

GUEST: Esteemed British Cardiologist, Dr Aseem Malhotra.
\n\nDr Malhotra is equally concerned about the draconian measures implemented in Australia regarding specific medical interventions, which he considers an affront to medical ethics. He points out that the fundamental interests of Big Pharma lie in generating profit for their shareholders, not in providing the best treatment to patients.
\n\nThe lack of awareness about these systemic failures among the general population and doctors themselves is alarming. Dr Malhotra draws upon Noam Chomsky's insight, explaining that people don't know what's happening and are unaware of their ignorance. This observation highlights the critical need for greater transparency and accountability within the medical industry.
\n\nDr Malhotra's own journey in reconsidering certain medical interventions is both personal and profound. His father, a respected medical practitioner, suffered an unexplained cardiac arrest with shocking post-mortem findings. These findings, coupled with emerging information, significantly altered Dr Malhotra's perspective on the recent medical intervention.
\n\nHe stresses that continuous learning and self-questioning are crucial in medicine. Many of those influencing health policies have gross financial conflicts of interest, and he warns about their enslavement to powerful commercial interests.
\n\nThis systemic problem is so pervasive that Dr Malhotra coined a term for it, "Psychopathic Determinants of Health," during one of his lectures attended by Richard Horton, the editor of The Lancet. This term encapsulates the behavior of powerful corporations that, driven by profit, operate with utter disregard for public health and welfare.
\n\nTo combat this, Dr Malhotra champions ethical evidence-based medical practices. However, the problem of censorship in social media platforms and government policies impedes this goal. The suppression of critical medical information leads to suboptimal patient outcomes and can cause harm. To Dr Malhotra, this behavior is nothing short of an attack on democracy.
\n\nThe conversation serves as a stark reminder of the state of our current medical and healthcare systems. It underscores the importance of maintaining an open dialogue and trust in scientific findings. Yet, the issue of censorship and suppression of essential medical information remains a significant hurdle that we need to overcome to truly advance in health and medicine.
